It’s been a good month for reading. I managed to read a total of seven books! And I enjoyed them all, which is the biggest miracle here if I’m being honest. Without further adieu, my June reads:
Gemina – 4 stars. All I can say is that I NEED book three right now! I need to know how this all ends. This series is addictive and I finally understand all the hype around it.
Heartless – 5 stars. Honestly, I don’t know when I drank the Kool-Aid, but I’m a happy customer as far as Marissa Meyer goes. It didn’t take much convincing for me to feel for Catherine’s story. She went through so much that her demise to the dark Queen that she becomes is almost understandable. Almost. Her signature ‘off with their heads’ was refreshing, though there were a few more heads I wanted to roll, namely her mother’s and the King’s. Overall, a wonderful story that I wouldn’t mind more of, but would be willing to accept as is.
Homegoing – 5 stars. I’m not normally one for character based books, needing plot drivers to sustain me. But, Gyasi knew just what to do to keep me entertained. Such rich histories all connected by a single thread. Beautiful.
Hunted – 3 stars. Not as amazing as I expected, but enjoyable nonetheless. I was definitely interested in hearing more from the Beast than I was to hear from our Main Character (whose name has since evaporated from my mind. Oops?). He was haunting and eerie every time we were graced with his POV.
Illuminae – 4 stars. Same as I said for Gemina. As soon as I was finished with this one, I immediately began the next. Addictive.
The Girl Before – 3.5 stars. Well, this is what it’s like to witness Stockholm syndrome first hand. I wouldn’t mind giving Rena Olsen a second try.
Waking Gods – 5 stars. BOOK THREE NOW PLEASE! That is all.
Have you read any of these? What did you read this month? I want to know (because I am shamelessly nosey).
Dee ^_^
Wowie – 7 books! I’m totally envy you, June saw the height of my reading slump *sigh*, but all the more reason to make July the best reading month ever!
I’ve been looking for a good, not too intense, fantasy novel lately, and after reading your mini review of Heartless I might just give that a shot (After I finish When Dimple Met Rishi that is 🙂 )
I look forward to reading more from you soon, happy reading 🙂

ITS AMAZING SO FAR! I’m usually not all that into YA, but the writing style and the quirky characters make up for all the clichés enveloped in the novel! 🙂
I definitely plan on writing a review of it soon.
