Not as slow as I thought

aka I read more than I thought I would.

hello internet

On with the wrap up.

I read 8 books and attempted 11, during a month that was intended to be light reading. Ha! What happened to that idea? Bare in mind that all of this reading happened over a two week span.

high five

5 Stars

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

I gushed about this book already…but all I want is more Simon and Baz

The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stievater

in which Ronan got more airtime. Still love Gansey to death and want to shake Adam. Now, if I can have more Noah, I’ll be the happiest girl in the world.

4 Stars

Their Fractured Light  by Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner – I had a lot to say on this one: here.

The Mist by Stephen King. This one was a bit different from the movie and the Netflix series, in the best and worst ways. This one is slow, a lot of waiting around. I could have done without the cheating arc as well…

Sonofawitch! by Trysh Thompson is described as an anthology of hilarious witchy adventures gone wrong. I  don’t know if I’ll agree with the hilarity, but every main character had the worst magical luck known to mankind.

Good Spell Gone Bug – 2.5
The Trouble with Love Spells – 2
All the Pretty Curses – 2.75
The Perfect Mate Fiasco – 3.5 (casual mention of an*rexia). This one had my favorite character of the entire compilation.
A Matter of Perspective – 4. Wizarding school failure has to survive after accidental time travel.
A Poppet Named Dave – 3.5. Some of the most annoying, self-absorbed characters I’ve ever read, but the concept was interesting enough.

Dracula Marries Frankenstein: An Anne of Green Bagels Story by Susan Schade. Is it cute? Yes. Does it attempt to teach something/reflect the real world? Yes. Are there some problematic aspects? Of course. If you want more info on what people are saying: click here. TW: homophobia.

Blur (Night Roamers #1) by Kristen Middleton. This one hurst me to say, because I remember the first time I read it I was hooked and couldn’t stop gushing. Not this time. I COULD NOT STOP ROLLING MY EYES. I was thisclose to rage quitting. Fits perfectly in the era that it was published (circa Twilight hype).

Hotel Transylvania Graphic Novel Volume 1: Kakieland Katastrophe (‘Checking In’ on goodreads). I almost never complain about fast paced books, UNTIL NOW. Talk about rushed! But it was cute, I guess.

3/5 series reads completed (removed 2 series from series-in-progress)

✔  Starbound (not including the novella)

❌  Night Roamers (I can’t)

Attempted, but not completed: Morning Sun, Secrets for the Mad: Obessions, Confessions and Night Lessons, and A Darker Shade of Magic. I also completely bypassed the two books that I hadn’t finished in August so…idk.

Unattempted from tbr:  This Night so Dark and Marked

Now for an announcement: I decided to start an insta, so I’d love it if you followed me over there. Also, while you’re giving me love(!!!), don’t forget my twitter and FB page, also under the name deereadsforfood.

love me

Until next time, keep reading

Dee ^_^

  1. A Darker Shade of Magic – I’m in the middle of that attempt myself. I got the audiobook and really liked the style and reader, but sometime around the time Kell gets tricked into smuggling something from White London, I got too stressed out by the suspense and switching to some space opera. I’m a total lightweight!

    Where did you drop off?
