First Lines Friday – with a twist

aka I just couldn’t help myself.

“The forbidden kiss. We knew that it was wrong, that he was betrothed to my sister. But if this wasn’t what he wanted, then why did he come to the field of desire.”

Any guesses what this one is from?

I’ll give you a hint, it’s not the first lines of a book…but it is the first lines of an adaptation of a book series.

How about now?

Well, the answer is…

I can’t wait to watch this one.

I’ve been participating in a To All The Boys readalong and have been loving every minute of the experience. Next up we’re going to be watching and discussing the movie so I figured that this was apropos, especially with the movie coming out today.

For anyone who’s never heard of the book series, the synopsis:

15749186

What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them… all at once?

Sixteen-year-old Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.

(In case you’re curious I gave it 5 stars)

I really hope they do the book justice and keep the overall vibe. Fingers crossed.

Have you read the books? Are you planning on watching?
