aka the time I changed my TBR on day 2 of a readathon…
I read 4 books this time around…except, only 2 of them were on my original TBR. I had every intention of sticking to my list too you know…but…I was weak.
Underwhelming after all of the hype. When this book came out, there wasn’t a place on the internet that wasn’t talking about it. In fact, it even made it to the Goodreads Best Thriller category…but, it didn’t do it for me. It had the weirdness for sure but beyond that…I wasn’t really sure what I was reading. I was expecting to fall in love with it the way that I loved Scooby Doo and the Mystery Gang…but alas, none of the characters held me.
I would recommend if: your type of mystery/thriller requires you to suspend reality and you don’t mind not falling in love with the characters.
Not what I was expecting. It wasn’t horrible but I also didn’t feel like it added to my tv show experience. Meh.
I would recommend if: You’re looking for something that’s akin to a fever dream, then this is the book for you.
The first part was wonderful and nostalgic and all that I had hoped for. The second half was just okay. None of the characters in the second half make much sense, at least not where their reactions are concerned. Aside from that, the ending was a bit up in the air for me.
I would recommend if: Nostalgia is your thing and you don’t mind watching some new characters ruin all of Max, Dani and Allison’s hard work.
This felt like watching the TV show and yet it didn’t. Definitely interested in continuing this one. There were a lot of new elements that the show doesn’t have, which made it just different enough to be entertaining.
I would recommend if: Zombies and the paranormal are your thing.
That’s right. Not one 5-star read for this entire thing. I’m so sad. I also didn’t even start 11/22/63 and completely removed Pride and Prejudice and Zombies altogether, but I consider this year a success.
How has your week of reading been?
