I hope you all are ready for that influx of family and forced family time over the next few days. I’m not.
Harry Potter all day, every day!
This one has so many possible answers: Belle/Matilda/Jo March. I was (still am) always stuck in a book just like these characters. Of course, my life was never anywhere near as dramatic as these women’s but…you know. Also, HP was my entire childhood.
1984 by George Orwell which speaks to the government being overly involved in our daily lives (I see you Big Brother). It was a worry then, and it’s a worry now.
T.H.U.G. by Angie Thomas. This one I’m predicting just based off of its current impact alone. Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of my own.
This one might hurt some feelings for those Selection lovers out there but The Elite by Kiera Cass. Girl why???? Book one was mushy and fluffy and all of the good things about YA Romance and then came book two with an unnecessarily dragged out love triangle. Nah. Nah!
The Graveyard Book, mainly because there were so many more things I wanted to learn about the characters. I didn’t want Nobody to ever leave that cemetery. More please Mr. Gaiman. Please!
Aaaanyway, this is the last post from me until after Boxing Day (Dec. 26) as that’s my grandfather’s birthday. Lots to do!
I created this one last Halloween, and never got around to posting it. Idk how come I never posted it, but, I’m doing it now!!
The Southern Vampire Mysteries. Don’t get me wrong, it was a series that I enjoyed while I was reading it, then it just kept grooooowing, and growing. I can’t.
This one can have a couple answers, but my first initial answer is Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I mean, that ending!
Aisde from that I would choose Carry On by Rainbow Rowell or This Savage Song by V. E. Schwab, both of which were slow burns. You go into them expecting a lot to happen, but it doesn’t. Not until you’ve let your guard down.
Jackson Oz of Zoo by James Patterson. I mean, he already KNEW about the changes happening with the animals, and yet he has a PET CHIMPANZEE. I am STILL not over this stupidity.
Full disclosure: I haven’t read very many of these (outside of fanfiction, which I can’t remember half the names of so I can’t rec them here), so my choices are limited. At face value, and the emotions that I remember having while reading this book, I’d have to say Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater.
By default, October Country by Ray Bradbury. It’s the best of the ones I’ve read, so….
Please rec me your favorites???
Toss up between Black Dagger Brotherhood by J R Ward and Midnight Breedby Lara Adrian. Both hooooot and action packed. If you want to read about a clan of vampires protecting the world from other vampires, with a heavy helping of sex and romance, this is where you start.
There are so many beautiful options for this one, there’s Heartless and Winter by Marissa Meyer, The Wee Free Men (Discworld) by Terry Pratchet and of course The Wizard of Oz by L Frank Baum. The characters, the world, the adventure!
Off Season by Jack Ketchum. My lord does this book give: The Hills Have Eyes type of vibes. Yiiikes. There is so much gore! Soooo much (and I definitely need to see the movie that I heard it was made into).
Goosebumps and Fear Street was where it all began. I can still remember staying up on weekends flying through these books. Aaah, the memories.
The easy answer would be The Darkling (Grisha series), I mean, the way he started the series is NOT the way he enters book two! But there’s also Jamie Lannisterand The Hound from GOT (but since I’ve only watched the tv series and not read the book…)
Mushu from Mulan & Olaf & Sven from Frozen | The Comic Relief –
Name your favorite hilarious character or your favorite comedy/funny book
Hands down Jesper from the Six of Crows dualogy. He was such a troublemaker.
The Seven Dwarfs from Snow White | Favorite Group/Ensemble
The group from the Lunar Chronicles. They fit together so well.
Pascal from Tangled | The loyal cheerleader chameleon (not a frog, Flynn Rider) –
Name a book that started out one way but changed for you
This one is a bit harder for me to decide. I’m torn between Caraval and Will Grayson x2 both of which started off pretty rocky and with little emotional attachment but then ended up growing on me.
Meeko from Pocahontas | Pocahontas’s sly and sneaky raccoon friend –
Name a plot twist that you did not see coming
The ending of With Malice. *insert mind blowing sound effects here* Honestly, shook.
Rajah from Aladdin & Flounder from The Little Mermaid | Gentle with their princess but protective with everyone else –
Name your favorite best friend in a novel
Cinder and Iko in the Lunar Chronicles. She kept Cinder grounded and reminded her to have fun every once in a while.
Cogsworth, Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, & Chip from Beauty and the Beast | The Musical Bunch –
Name a novel where music played a big part or made you want to sing its praises
There are a lot of books that I want to sing their praises, so to make my life easy, I’ll choose a book where music is integral. Eleanor and Park, it was their strongest bond. It was cute even if Rainbow Rowell stomped on my heart with that ending. Hmph.
Maximus from Tangled | The obstacle in Flynn Rider’s way –
Name a character that faces a lot of obstacles
I really wanna say Kaz (Six of Crows) but I used this book already *weh*, so instead Karou from the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. I swear, everytime she took one step forward there were like ten back. Gah!
Hamish, Hubert, & Harris from Brave | Favorite family dynamics in a novel
The Upside of Unrequited – this family was real. They weren’t perfect but they worked and they gave me all the feels.
Ray from The Princess and the Frog & 3 Fairies from Sleeping Beauty | The Advice Givers –
Book that most impacted your life
Easily Harry Potter. THIS NEEDS NO EXPLANATION!
Hei Hei from Moana | Name a character that steals the show
Dorrance from Insomnia (Stephen King) was a strange old man who I just wanted to hug and sit around and listen to him babble on about the things that aren’t visible to all of us.
Gus & Jaq from Cinderella | Opposites Attract –
Name your favorite or worst opposite attracts pairing
Daemon and Katie from Obsidion (Jeniffer L. Armentrout). Ugh.
