aka remember that time I asked you to hold me accountable? Ha!
I’m such a flop, I sweaaaar!
I’ve been distracted all month long, by things that are not books. I’ve betrayed my first love…
My latest obsessions have been:
- Black Lightning – This show has me all in my feelings, the actors are wonderful to look at, and the action is the icing on top. If you haven’t seen this Netflix/CW masterpiece yet, I suggest you get on that.
Would recommend for: fans of Marvel superheroes (especially Luke Cage and Jessica Jones) or anyone out for a little (lot) bit of eye candy.
- Watching Twitch streams – This one goes hand in hand with watching YouTube gameplay. It’s oftentimes soothing to have on while I clean or just don’t want to think about real life too hard.
Would recommend for: anyone looking for background noise while they do something else.
- Playing The Sims 4 (which I’ve found a renewed love for) – Usually what would happen is that I would watch Simmers playing the game and I’d become immediately inspired to create some fun builds of my own.
Would recommend for: anyone looking for low commitment fun that somehow sucks hours of your life without your noticing.
- An Android game called My Shelf – Similar to a longstanding game called Episodes/Choices, this is a story based game that has all of the drama, and every option you choose affects the outcome for your character.
Would recommend for: more mindless clicking with an aside of messy, messy drama.
Aside from that, this month I’ve been spending lots of time with family. Noone can really begrudge me this one right? I mean, come on!
Q: What have you been obsessed with lately?
See you on Monday!
aka the moment I realized that I might not make it.
At the beginning of the year, I had some lofty reading goals and now I’ve found myself woefully behind on all counts. According to my Goodreads Challenge, I’m four books behind schedule, I’ve not read a single King novel since last November, and my Austen challenge hasn’t left the ground. And let’s not even mention the one in one out rule I made re: my TBR. Ha!
Oh, but I HAVE read three of my most anticipated so, that’s ONE thing going my way. Still not fast enough to read them all before the year is over but one a month is better than none at all.
The saddest part of all of this is that I really want to be able to meet all of my goals, but real life just won’t let me be great (kidding, I’m grateful for everything about my real life as it stands). Unfortunately, I don’t see things changing any time soon. So, do I reduce my numbers, or just continue as I’m going and see how close to my original goals I can get?
I don’t want to readjust because that feels like quitting or admitting defeat, and I don’t think I’m there yet. But what if that’s just stubbornness talking and the reality is that I’ve already fallen too far behind? Gah! Idk…
I need your help on this one guys. What would you do if you were in my position? For context: My Goodreads Challenge is 70 books and I’ve read 12 and my anticipated is 20 and I’ve read three.
(Also, some good audiobook recommendations would be appreciated!)
aka The time being a MOH sucked all of my time and energy
If I’m being honest, I barely have time to do these once a week posts, let alone sit and read. I never knew that being a maid-of-honour was so much work!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m honoured to have been chosen, and I’m enjoying all that comes with the position but good Lord!
My time has been stretched much thinner than I’d like, so when I do get time to myself, I’m too fried to sit and read. I cannot wait for the wedding to get here (just one more month to go).
But, I did make a few commitments reading wise so here’s hoping I can carve out the time…and expect the posts to be even more sporadic towards the middle/end of February.
Until next time, share all your reading adventures so I can live vicariously through you.
