I don’t know if you all remember me mentioning that I was starting a new job from today…but it’s happening!
Day one of training is over and done – and you know what, it was a lot more fun than I was expecting. Actually, that’s a lie. I didn’t know what I was expecting.
I had to be up and out of the house by six a.m in order to get there by eight. Let me tell you, that early wake-up time is entirely worth it, any later and well…my first day wouldn’t have been off to a great start. But now I’m exhausted…gah.
What I wasn’t expecting, was for me to get home at FIVE p.m. How am I going to get posts out to you guys? These updates aren’t going to cut it for very long…
aka the moment I realized that I might not make it.
At the beginning of the year, I had some lofty reading goals and now I’ve found myself woefully behind on all counts. According to my Goodreads Challenge, I’m four books behind schedule, I’ve not read a single King novel since last November, and my Austen challenge hasn’t left the ground. And let’s not even mention the one in one out rule I made re: my TBR. Ha!
Oh, but I HAVE read three of my most anticipated so, that’s ONE thing going my way. Still not fast enough to read them all before the year is over but one a month is better than none at all.
The saddest part of all of this is that I really want to be able to meet all of my goals, but real life just won’t let me be great (kidding, I’m grateful for everything about my real life as it stands). Unfortunately, I don’t see things changing any time soon. So, do I reduce my numbers, or just continue as I’m going and see how close to my original goals I can get?
I don’t want to readjust because that feels like quitting or admitting defeat, and I don’t think I’m there yet. But what if that’s just stubbornness talking and the reality is that I’ve already fallen too far behind? Gah! Idk…
I need your help on this one guys. What would you do if you were in my position? For context: My Goodreads Challenge is 70 books and I’ve read 12 and my anticipated is 20 and I’ve read three.
(Also, some good audiobook recommendations would be appreciated!)
Oh, hello. It is I! A non-Wednesday poster, posting on a Wednesday. But I figured that I owed you all a post this week since I haven’t posted in a while.
This one I found when I was looking up typical Wednesday bookish topics and it seems pretty popular. And simple enough to join in on, you only have to answer three questions.
Here goes nothing.
What are you currently reading –
I’ve only just started the third book in the Small Town series (what started as a trilogy is now promised to be, at the least, a quartet. The author recently announced book four.)
In this one, we’ve found out who our killer is, and now our MCs are trying to piece their lives back together. I want to see how Edwards does this one.
What did you finish reading recently –
Believe it or not…I finished book two only last night. After speeding through the first bits of it on the first day that I picked it up, I put it down and didn’t pick it up again for a while. Then I flew through the end like nobody’s business. As with the first one, there were the typical sins of a first-time author, self-publishing, which led to an air of predictability. But, I could overlook those because I got my satisfactory retribution. I just wish someone would knock Alice on the head a couple of times though.
What do you think you will be reading next –
This one has been on my TBR for a long time, but, I’m making it a priority. It’s a retelling so it HAS to be a priority for me. Cuz, duh!
